As the Summer wanes and the leaves start changing colors, it’s time to find the perfect inspo for your fall nails!
In this blog post, I’ll share some ideas on how to get the perfect fall nail look, from choosing the perfect autumnal colors to nail art techniques. I’ll also include some of my favorite nail pictures to give you tons of inspiration for your own fall mani!
Why I Love Fall Nails
There’s just something about fall that makes me want to play with different colors and designs on my nails. The changing leaves, cozy sweaters, and pumpkin spice everything put me in the mood to get creative.
Fall nails are the perfect way to transition from summer to winter. I can mix fun, warm tones like oranges and browns with some shimmery grays or silvers. Fall nails also allow me to reflect my mood or personality, whether I’m feeling warm and nostalgic or edgy and bold.
Choosing My Fall Nail Colors
One of the best parts of fall nails is picking the colors. I always take inspiration from nature, so I knew I wanted to use rich browns, deep burgundies, and warm oranges on my nails.
I love starting with a burgundy base, which always looks so elegant and vampy. Then I like to add accents in various shades of orange and brown. I love blending the warm and cool tones together. The burgundy base adds drama, while the orange and brown accents give the mani a cozy twist.
Last year I also became obsessed with a metallic olive green shade for a pop of color, either on all nails or as an accent nail. The metallic sheen adds just the perfect modern, edgy touch to balance out the more traditional fall tones.
In general though, I recommend stocking up on various shades of brown polish, and mixing up matte and glossy finishes, it’s simple and super elegant (don’t believe me? Check out some of the chocolate-inspired manicure below)!
Creating My Fall Nail Designs
In addition to color, I like to play with different nail art and designs for fall. I take inspiration from some of the themes of the season, like falling leaves, plaid, and Halloween motifs (but I’m going to have a whole post specifically about Halloween nails, so stay tuned for that!)
I love to do simple gold leaf designs, mostly just adding flakes before the top coat. Another idea I learned from a friend, I used striping tape to create a grungy black and white plaid pattern that felt punk rock and stylish.
Whatever the design I choose, I love just mixing classic fall motifs like leaves and pumpkins with edgier elements like the plaid design. What about you? What are your favorite designs for your Fall nails?
