But first things first…
What are Cat Eye Nails?
Cat eye nails feature a cool shimmering design that is done with magnetic polish, and a lot of people call magnetic polish “cat eye nail polish”.
For a “real” cat eye design, you use a magnet to create a straight line through the pigment before applying the top coat.
There is a very similar nail trend called “velvet nails”. The main difference is that, for velvet nails, instead of using a magnet to create a straight line, you use the magnet to spread the magnetic pigment evenly around the nail.
But, to be honest, people call them all “cat eye nails”, even if they don’t have the straight line going through. That’s why you’ll see some cat eye and some velvet nails in my slideshow.
